Head coach Kelly Doton previews the season ahead

As the No. 8 Boston College field hockey team prepares to get the 2016 underway this weekend, the Eagles have a lot to look forwards to.

Not only did the squad receive its highest preseason or season-opening rank in program history earlier this week, but senior All-American Emily McCoy was one of 11 Preseason All-ACC selections.

Playing in the toughest conference in the nation - the Atlantic Coast Conference, where all seven teams are ranked in the nation's top 12 - head coach Kelly Doton has augmented the Eagles' schedule with a slate of challenging non-conference opponents. That strategy paid dividends in 2015, Doton's first as head coach, when the Eagles made their first-ever appearance in the ACC Championship semfinals and advanced to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament for just the second time in program history.
