The senior joins nine other student-athletes on the list
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College senior Megan Cooley is a step closer to adding another accomplishment to her illustrious career.
The Mill Creek, Wash., native was named one of 10 finalists for the 2016 Senior CLASS Award announced Tuesday afternoon. The award celebrates senior student-athletes who use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as community leaders.
Finalists were chosen by national media from the list of 30 candidates announced earlier this month. Nationwide fan voting begins immediately to help select the winner, and fans are encouraged to submit votes online at the Senior CLASS Award website through May 9. Fan votes will be combined with those of the media and Division I head coaches to determine the winners. The Senior CLASS Award recipient for softball will be announced during the 2016 NCAA Women's College World Series® in Oklahoma City, June 2-8.
Cooley is a senior double-major in economics and political science in the Carroll School of Management and a three-time ACC Academic Honor Roll, a three-time recipient of the Athletic Director's Award for Academic Achievement and a three-time member of the ACC All-Academic Team. On the softball field, Cooley earned second-team All-ACC honors in 2015 while placing on the third team in 2014. She also holds three Boston College single-season records.
