BC HIGHLIGHTS AND GAME NOTES
- The maroon and gold picked up their first conference win of the season Saturday, defeating the Orange of Syracuse 13-8. The Eagles are now 6-3 overall.Â
- Boston College picked up their second win all-time over Syracuse and now is 2-13 against the Orange dating back to 1998, the first year the two teams squared off. Saturday's win also marks the second time in the last three matchups that the Eagles had the edge, as the maroon and gold defeated 'Cuse, 10-9, last February, a game in which Caroline Margolis tallied four goals.
- Saturday's game marked the fourth game this season that the Eagles have faced off against an opponent in the top-20 of the IWLCA poll. The Eagles had previously faced No. 8 Notre Dame, No. 17 Louisville and No. 2 Florida.Â
- With her two goals today, Kate Weeks now has as many goals in her junior campaign (13) as she did in her freshman and sophomore years combined. This marks her fifth multi-goal game this season. Weeks, Apuzzo and Mannelly each have five multi-goal games this season.Â
- Zoe Ochoa registered 10 saves to earn her sixth victory of the season and faced 23 shots, which tied the most she has faced all season. The Longmeadow native previously faced 23 shots vs. Navy on March 5.
- Sarah Mannelly led all Eagles with six points (4G, 2 A) while Sam Apuzzo  (3G,1A), Caroline Margolis (1G,3A), and Kate Weeks (2G) all recorded multi-point games.
- The BC defense held a Syracuse offense that was averaging nearly 14 goals per game to only eight, the fewest goals the Orange defense has registered this season. This was only the third time that Syracuse had not scored double-digit goals this season.
- Sophomore Emma Schurr netted her first goal of the season with 17:22 remaining in the first half on Saturday to give the Eagles a 4-3 lead off a feed from Caroline Margolis.
- With her three assists today, Caroline Margolis upped her career assist total to 50, placing her in a tie with Kristin Igoe (2008-12) for sixth place in program history in that respective field. Â Â
TURNING POINT
- With 3:01 remaining in the first half, junior captain Tess Chandler broke open a 5-5 draw with an unassisted tally to give the Eagles a 6-5 lead that they would carry into halftime. The Eagles never trailed in the game.Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Sarah Mannelly kicked off the Eagles scoring less than a minute into the game with her 15th of the season.Â
- The two squads would exchange goals through the remainder of the first half, with BC unable to extend its lead to more than one point. During that time frame, Kate Weeks, Sam Apuzzo (2), Emma Schurr and Tess Chandler each tallied goals to give the Eagles a 6-5 advantage heading into the break.
- After each team netted one goal in the first five minutes of the second half, the Eagles scored six of the next seven goals to help break open the game. Kaileen Hart tallied her sole goal of the game at 20:47 of the second half while the combined effort of Margolis (FPG), Weeks, Mannelly (2), and Apuzzo completed the scoring drive for the Eagles.Â
