Fasoula Named To All-ACC Blue Ribbon Freshman Team

Eagles to play Virginia Tech Wednesday at 6:30 p.m .
Boston College freshman Mariella Fasoula was named to the 2015-16 Blue Ribbon Panel All-ACC Freshman team today as released by the conference office this afternoon. The Blue Ribbon Panel consists of national and local media members, as well as school representatives.
Fasoula is the first BC rookie to be named to the All-ACC Freshman team since her teammate Nicole Boudreau earned a spot in 2012-13.
A native of Athens, Greece, Fasoula is the Eagles second leading scorer (13.9 ppg.) and 14th in the ACC. She is also second in the conference and 18th in the country in field goal percentage (56%). Fasoula notched double-digits in 22 games, including the last 15. Against ACC teams, Fasoula averaged 15.3 points and 6.3 rebounds a game. She has also led the team in scoring in 12 games.
The Eagles 6-foot-4 center is the fourth highest scoring rookie in program history (29 games, 389 points, 13.9 scoring average).
The ACC will announce its Player, Freshman and Coach of the Year as selected by the Blue Ribbon Panel on Wednesday (March 2). The ACC coaches Defensive and Sixth Player of Year will also be announced on Wednesday.
Boston College will play Virginia Tech on Wednesday, March 2 at 6:30 p.m. in the first round of the ACC Tournament. Fans can view the game on ESPN3.

- Mariella Fasoula has scored in double-digits in 22 games, including 15 ACC games. The 6-foot-4 rookie center is 14th in the ACC in scoring and second in field goal percentage. She is the second highest scoring rookie in the conference. Fasoula has been named ACC Rookie of the Week twice and earned Eagles of the Week honors three times this season.
- Senior Alexa Coulombe has started a career-high 16 games and is enjoying her best season. The forward from Maine is averaging career-highs in minutes played, rebounds, assists, and points scored.
- The Eagles posted an undefeated slate in the month of December (6-0). It was the third time in program history the Eagles went undefeated in December. The first was in 1999-00 and then again in 2004-05.
