Eagles To Play Virginia Tech at ACC Tournament

Boston College will play 11th seeded Virginia Tech in the first round of the ACC Tournament on Wednesday, March 2 at Greensboro Coliseum at 6:30 p.m. The game will be aired on ESPN3. The winner will play NC State on Thursday at 8 p.m.
The Eagles finished the 2015-16 with a 14-15 record. Virginia Tech finished the season 17-12 overall and 5-11 in the conference.
BC opened the 2015-16 ACC season at Virginia Tech on January 3. The Eagles lost, 58-33, at Cassell Coliseum. The Eagles shot a season-low 20 percent from the floor while the Hokies shot 45 percent and had 16 steals in the game.
This will be the 24th meeting between the two teams. Since joining the ACC, BC leads the overall series, 9-7.
Junior Kelly Hughes leads the Eagles in scoring (14.3 ppg.) and rebounding (5.7 rpg.), while rookie center Mariella Fasoula is right behind her in points (13.8 ppg.) and rebounding (5.3 rpg.).
Hughes is the 13th leading scorer in the conference, second in three-pointers made (88) and fourth in three-point field goal percentage (42%). The 88 three's by Hughes is the second most made by a BC player in program history. The record of 96 three's made was set by Cal Bouchard in 1999-00.
Fasoula has scored in double-digits in 22 games, including 15 ACC games. The 6-foot-3 first year player is 14th in the ACC in scoring and second in field goal percentage. She is the second highest scoring rookie in the conference. Fasoula has been named ACC Rookie of the Week twice and earned Eagles of the Week honors three times this season.
