Burt, Hammer Named Eagles of the Week

Pair honored for performances last week

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Junior Katie Burt (women's hockey) and freshman Zachary Hammer (fencing) have been named Eagles of the Week for their performances last week.

Burt earned Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week honors after posting a 17-save shutout at Providence while helping Boston College to an 8-0 win. The shutout was her third of the season and the 18th conference shutout of her career. It moved her into a tie for Hockey East's career shutouts mark in league games and her 26 career shutouts is the BC record.

Hammer went 14-1 at the Brandeis Invitational this past weekend. He was a perfect 3-0 in bouts against Brown, North Carolina, Cornell and St. John's. He defeated two-time NCAA National Championship qualifier Andras Nemeth of St. John's in the process.

Women's hockey (11-3-3, 10-2-1 WHEA) plays at Dartmouth on Wednesday. Fencing will not compete again until the Northeast Fencing Conference Duals on January 28.
