Football remains bowl eligible and Hughes tops record books
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Football: For the last Eagle walk of the season, the Boston College football team entered into Alumni Stadium in a must-win scenario in order to keep their bowl eligibility.
In a game where everything seemed to click for the Eagles on both sides of the ball, the defense shined brightest. Not only were they able to shut down Connecticut's run game, the Eagles also recorded three interceptions, including a pick by sophomore defensive back Taj-Amir Torres, to help Boston College seal the victory over the Huskies.
With their fifth win coming in the last home game, the Eagles will prepare to head to Wake Forest for the season finale with bowl hopes intact.
Women's Basketball: It took only four games into the 2016-17 season for senior guard Kelly Hughes to leave her legacy at BC. On Sunday, Hughes broke the school record for career 3-pointers.
Alumni: On Saturday, former quarterback Matt Ryan was honored by BC by officially retiring his jersey. The rare honor thrilled Ryan as he recalled some of his fondest football memories from his Boston College days at halftime and the days leading up.
