Eagles' head coach announces the team's Class of 2021

The six players who make up the class have signed their National Letters of Intent and will arrive at The Heights later this summer to begin play with the Eagles in 2017.

Doton's signing class includes:
"We're very excited about this class," Doton said. "We're bringing in six really talented field hockey players who we believe will leave a legacy after their four years here at Boston College are complete. They're not just great field hockey players, but they're also great people and they fit the cultural ideal we're trying to build. We're really excited about getting them to campus and ingrained in our program this summer."

Cassidy Atchison
Defense/Midfield | 5-7
Virginia Beach, Va.
Saints Field Hockey (Henrico, Va.) | Frank W. Cox HS (Virginia Beach, Va.)

A three-time National Club Championship participant with Scotty Tyson's Saints Field Hockey program, including a third-place finish in 2016 … at the club level, played all across the back line and center midfield … is the captain of her high school team at Frank W. Cox High School … has already earned multiple first-team all-state, all-conference and NFHCA all-region honors … helped Cox win the 2014 Virginia 6A state title, its 18th state championship … was a six-time Futures participant (2011-16) and a three-time Junior Olympic selection (2013, 2014, 2015) …Cassidy is the youngest of Jay and Jacquelyn Atchison's three children … her father, Jay, played basketball at Old Dominion University … her two sisters played collegiate field hockey: Cristen at Wake Forest and Carly at American … a member of the National Honor Society and was a member of the NFHCA National Academic Squad in 2015-16 … also plays soccer and basketball at Cox.

Has played club field hockey with FireStyx for six years (2010-16) under the direction of Sure Butz-Stavin, who is also her high school coach at Emmuas HS … has helped FireStyx win several gold medals at the National Indoor Tournaments and National Festivals … at Emmaus, captains the team as a senior … has earned all-state honors, as well as all-conference and all-area recognition … Maddy is the oldest of Katie and Eric Dorn's three children … both of her parents were collegiate athletes on the lacrosse and track and field teams at Towson University … a member of the National Honor Society … also excels on the lacrosse field as a three-time all-area and all-conference performer at Emmaus HS.

Doton on Dorn: "Maddy is coming from a great high school program and has benefited from a lot of great coaching throughout her career there. They know how to win and that's an intangible we can't teach. Mad's going to be a great addition."

Born in Holland and began her field hockey career at AH&BC field hockey club in Amsterdam … was a member of the District Team of North Holland … a three-time all-state performer at Rye HS and was a 2015 third-team NFHCA All-American as a junior … played two seasons with FC United based in Greenwich, Conn. – where she was the JPIL's leading scorer as a freshman defender – before focusing on Futures the last few spring seasons … helped FC United win the U19 Pool A at the 2015 National Festival … was a member of the 2014 USA U19 National Indoor Team and was among the high school athletes chosen to try out for the U.S. Under-19 team.

Doton on Govaert: "She's originally from Holland so her field hockey background is immeasurable. She has really good technical skills, knows the game well, understands the game and can set the pace of play. She's going to be a really good midfielder for us."

Has played the last two seasons with Princeton Field Hockey Club … helped the club win the 2016 gold medal at the National Club Championship … prior to joining Princeton Field Hockey Club, played 11 years with Mystx … set new Council Rock South single-season records for points, goals and assists as both a sophomore and then again as a junior … scored her 100th career goal in 2016 …a two-time captain at Council Rock South, she's a three-time all-conference performer so far, claiming first-team honors in 2014 and 2015 … a member of the U.S. National Indoor Team since 2014 …Caroline is the youngest of Cindy and Tom McGovern's four children … her oldest sister, Caitlin '10, was a former member of the BC field hockey team (2006-09) … her other sister Kiera played field hockey at Catholic University (2012-15) … also earned varsity letters in basketball and lacrosse at Council Rock South … a member of the National Honor Society.Â

Has played with WC Eagles under head coaches Jun and Richard Kentwell since 2009 … helped the club win the last four National Indoor Tournaments (2013, 2014, 2015, 2016) and advance to the last four championship games – winning three times (2013, 2014, 2015) – of the National Outdoor Tournament … a four-year varsity starter at Merion Mercy Academy … a two-time Athletic Association of Catholic Academies (AACA) all-star and a 2015 first-team all-state honoree … participated in USA Field Hockey's 2016 Junior National Camp … Jaime is the third of Lisa and James Natale's four children … her sister older sister Nicol plays soccer at Fordham.

Doton on Natale: "She's another great player coming out of a strong Merion Mercy program. She has really good hands and can get out of tight situations in the midfield. Her technical skill is very good. She also plays for one of the best club programs in the country, so she's gotten great coaching. Jaime likes to win, as well, so she'll be an immediate contributor."

Has helped Boston Field Hockey Club qualify for the National Indoor Tournament and National Club Championships each of the last three years … helped back the program to a fourth-place finish at NCCs in 2016 … has won three straight Eastern Independent League (EIL) championships and has helped the school advance to the NEPSAC tournament all three years so far (semifinalists in 2013, 2015; quarterfinals in 2014) … is the youngest of Susan and Mark Warner's three children … has two older brothers … both of her parents are 1985 graduates of Boston College … also excelled in ice hockey and lacrosse, earning All-EIL league honors in both sports all three seasons so far.

Doton on Warner: "Elizabeth's a workhorse. We've been watching her grow up in our backyard. We saw her play when she was young and then she came to a couple of camps and clinics. Speed is a big asset for her and she can score goals. She comes from a family of BC alums and we're glad Elizabeth chose to carry on that tradition."Â Â
