2016 Four Nations Cup Roster
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College junior defenseman Megan Keller has been called into the U.S. Women's National Team for the 2016 Four Nations Cup, which will be played Nov. 1-5 in Vierumaki, Finland. Keller is one of three current collegians named to the 23-player roster and will be the team's youngest player.
The Farmington Hills, Mich., native is one of six Boston College products named to the Four Nations Cup roster. She'll be joined by BC alumnae Alex Carpenter '16, Emily Pfalzer '15, Haley Skarupa '16, Kelli Stack '11 and Dana Trivigno '16. All six were members of the gold-medal winning squad at the 2016 IIHF Women's World Championships in Canada.
The team's pre-event camp will commence on Oct. 24 in East Meadow, N.Y. Keller – as well as Wisconsin junior Annie Pankowski and Minnesota senior Leah Stecklein – will join the team on Oct. 28. Keller is expected to miss four Boston College games while with the national team: Oct. 28 and 29 against Connecticut and Nov. 4 and 5 against Boston University.
This is Keller's third season with the full U.S. National Team. She won a silver medal at the 2014 Four Nations Cup, and is a two-time gold medalist at the IIHF World Championships (2015, 2016). This past summer she served as the U.S. Under-22 Select Team's alternate captain for the annual series against Canada.
This year, Keller is one of the Eagles' two assistant captains. A first-team All-American as a sophomore last year, Keller has already climbed into the program's top 25 in career scoring among all players, and is fifth among BC defensemen with 77 career points. Last season, she established the program's single-season record for points by a defenseman with 52 in 41 games, breaking Pfalzer's old mark of 42 points in 2014-15.
Fifth-ranked Boston College (0-1-1) returns to the ice this Saturday, Oct. 8, when the team opens its home schedule with a two-game series against Maine. Game two is set for Sunday, Oct. 9 and both games are scheduled for 2 p.m.
