HOW IT HAPPENED
- NC State scored just five minutes into the game on a scramble in front of the goal. Ricarda Walkling had three straight shots off a cross into the box. Walking's first two shots were blocked by BC defenders but the third shot got through the traffic and past the Eagles goalkeeper Alexis Bryant.
- The Eagles had a number of set pieces throughout the match but could not convert. NC State had 20 fouls and eight yellow cards in the game, while BC had 13 fouls and one yellow card.
- In the 15th minute, McKenzie Meehan had a direct kick which was easily handled by the NC State goalkeeper Sydney Wooten.
- Bike had a shot in the 27th minute that went wide while Wooten took another one away from Meehan two minutes later.
- Meehan had a great chance at the corner of the box to the left of the goalkeeper. Jenna Bike was fouled just outside the box. Meehan's shot went near post and at the last second Wooten came up with the save to preserve the NC State one goal lead.
- At the end of the first half, Boston College had great chance in front of the goal as the ball bounced around. The Eagles had three attempts as Meehan's shot was turned away, and Emily Langenderfer one-timed the rebound from six yards out and it was blocked by a Wolfpack defender. BC's Lauren Berman got on the end of that rebound and put the ball back towards the goal and it was turned away to keep the game, NC State 1, BC 0.
- In a strange start to the second half, NC State received three early yellow cards as the game continued to be a physical battle.
- The Eagles had a number of great chances off set pieces. The offense sputtered as shots went wide or high. Meehan had a direct kick at the end of the game after a Wolfpack defender fouled Lauren Berman outside the box. Meehan's shot sailed high as the buzzer sounded to end the match.
- BC had a 17-8 edge in overall shots. The Eagles had seven shots on goal and NC State had one that counted. Both teams had two corners in the match
