Boston College fell to Wake Forest, 2-0, in an ACC match at Spry Stadium in Winston-Salem, North Carolina on Saturday night. Boston College is now 10-5-1 and 2-5-0 in the ACC. Wake Forest improved to 9-6-0 and 1-6-0 in the conference.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- BC's McKenzie Meehan had a great chance in the 23rd minute of the match. Hayley Dowd slid the ball between two defenders down the side and Meehan's shot just went by the far post.
- In the 32nd minute, Samantha Hiatt headed a corner kick from Gaby Carreiro just wide of the goal.
- The Deacs best chance came off a corner kick in the 37th minute of the match. The header by Claudia Day went high over the crossbar.
- At the end of the half, BC had two corner kicks but neither was a threat as the Deacs defense cleared both attempts.
- BC had two shots at the half, while Wake Forest had five. Both teams had three corners apiece.
- Hayley Dowd stole the ball from a Wake defender and broke into the box. With two defenders closing in, Dowd went far post and the Deacs goalkeeper Lindsay Preston made the save to keep the game tied at 0-0.
- Wake Forest changed the tone of the game in the 77th minute when Caroline Wooten scored off an assist from Kahla Seymout.
- Five minutes later, the Deacs added the second goal of the game as Reci Smith headed in a corner kick from Maddie Huster.
- The Eagles had three great chances in the final five minutes off the foot of Olivia Vaughn, Jenna Bike and McKenzie Meehan. BC's offense finished with 10 shots, while Wake Forest had nine.
- BC had nine corner kicks, six in the second half of the game while the Deacs had four.
