McCaffrey To Train With US National Team

McCaffrey ready to train the USWNT in California.
Former Boston College forward Stephanie McCaffrey was named to the U.S Women's National Team first training camp of 2016 by head coach Jill Ellis. McCaffrey is one of 26 players named to the camp which will begin training at the US Soccer National Training Center in Carson, California on Jan. 5 through Jan. 21.
The team will then head south to play in the final game before the 2016 CONCACAF Women's Olympic Qualifying Championship which begins on Feb. 10 in Texas. The US will play the Republic of Ireland on January 23 at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego (2 p.m. PT, FS1). Coach Ellis will name 18 players for the roster against Ireland.
McCaffrey, 2015 graduate of Boston College, is one of 24 players that played in the final stretch of the Women's World Cup Victory Tour in December. She scored her first national team goal on October 25, 2015 in a 3-1 win over Brazil. McCaffrey, who plays professionally for the Boston Breakers, entered the game for Tobin Heath in the 46th minute of the game.
