Season Begins at Bates Winter Carnival

The Boston College men's and women's ski teams began their 2016 campaign up in Maine at the Bates Winter Carnival, finishing 14th out of 17 teams competing at the Sunday River Ski Resort, scoring 157 over the course of the day.
Freshman Aaron Taylor began his career as an Eagle placing 27th out of 43 competitors in the giant slalom with a total time of 2:19.70 over his two runs, scoring 20 points for BC in the process.
In the men's slalom, sophomore Carter Robertson, senior captain Chris Keating and senior Keith Schuman finished 19th, 28th, and 30th respectively out of the 36 total skiers. The trio combined to score 43 points.
On the women's side of the competition in the giant slalom, juniors Bug Pech and Kristie Ryan finished 35th and 42nd respectively, out of 47 competitors, putting up 22 points. Â
The Eagles also had a fair showing in the slalom. Freshman Dannica Ashnault placed 29th in her first race as an Eagle, while junior Bug Pech, junior Kristie Ryan, and freshman Natalie Wetmore took 33rd, 34th, and 42nd respectively out of 45 competitors. The Eagles combined to score 36 points in the event.

The Eagles will return to the slopes of Carrabasset Valley, Maine, this weekend when they compete in the Colby College Carnival.
