McDevitt Named Associate Head Coach
January 15, 2016 | Women's Soccer
Boston College head women's soccer coach Alison Foley announced today that assistant coach Mark McDevitt has been named the associate head coach.
"Mark has done a great job for our program in the last three years … most notably in his recruiting efforts where he was instrumental in bringing one of the best classes to The Heights for the fall,'' said Eagles head coach Alison Foley.
McDevitt is entering his fourth season with the women's soccer program. Since arriving at The Heights, McDevitt has helped the program advance to the NCAA Tournament twice, including an Elite appearance in the 2013 season with a home win against Northeastern and two road wins against Nebraska and Illinois. In the three seasons with McDevitt on the staff, BC has earned 33 victories.
A native of Derry, Northern Ireland, McDevitt has been crucial in the recruiting process. The Eagles roster has produced two All-ACC athletes in r-junior McKenzie Meehan (1st team) and Hayley Dowd (2nd team) as well as an All-ACC Rookie honoree in sophomore Allyson Swaby.
McDevitt also works with the keepers and helped r-freshman Alexis Bryant develop into the Eagles starter this past season. The Eagles finished the season with an 11-7-2 record and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the 18th time in program history.
