CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Success has been contagious for the Boston College winter sports teams.Â
The No. 1-ranked women's hockey team is 21-0 and looking to keep their momentum rolling. Next up for the Eagles is a trip to North Andover where Merrimack will plan to welcome in the "King and Her Court." Meanwhile, Montville, N.J., native Kathleen McNamara is living out her "hockey dream" as a walk-on for Boston College.Â
On the men's side of the puck, Eagles head coach Jerry York has led his team to a 14-4-2 record this season. The legendary coach is sitting at 998 career wins and has a shot at 1,000 with a pair of contests against Boston University up next this weekend.
The women's basketball team is also enjoying a strong start this season. A lot of credit for their play belongs to freshman Mariella Fasoula, who has discovered a world of difference from her experience playing overseas and now in the ACC.Â
In other news, a couple of former Eagles have received recognition for their exploits in the football world. Joe Wolf, 2004 Boston College Hall of Fame inductee and an Eagle from 1985-88, was recently inducted into the Allen High School Hall of Fame. Current Boston College football analyst Peter Cronan is receiving a gold football from the NFL for his experience playing in the Super Bowl. Cronan played in two Super Bowls with the Washington Redskins, winning one in 1981 and losing one in 1984.
