Fasoula Named ACC Rookie of the Week

Freshman Mariella Fasoula was named ACC Rookie of the Week on Monday as announced by the conference this afternoon. It marked the second time the ACC has honored the Eagles rookie, as she earned the award on Dec. 7.
Fasoula averaged a team-high 16 points and seven rebounds as the Eagles went 1-1 this past week. The rookie center has led BC in scoring in three of the last four games. She is currently second on the team in scoring (11.9 ppg.) and first in rebounding (5.2 rpg.).
The rookie center had 13 points and five boards in a tough road loss to No. 19/15 Florida State on Thursday night. On Sunday, BC defeated Yale, 73-60, and Fasoula led BC with 19 points and grabbed nine boards.
A native of Athens, Greece, Fasoula is shooting 56.3 percent from the floor and leads the team in blocks. As of Jan. 11, Fasoula is eighth in the conference and 21st in the country in field goal percentage and the fifth highest scoring ACC rookie.
Boston College is currently 12-3 overall and 0-2 in the conference. The Eagles will host No. 3/3 Notre Dame on Thursday at 7 p.m. Fans can purchase tickets to the game at the gate.
