BC HIGHLIGHTS
Sophomore defender Allyson Swaby scored her first goal of the season.
Red-shirt junior McKenzie Meehan gave BC a 2-0 lead on a penalty kick with 13 minutes left in the match.
Alexandra Johnson made five saves to earn her third win of the season. It was also her second shutout of the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Eagles scored in the 24th minute off a corner kick to the left of the Columbia goalkeeper Allison Spencer. Junior Lauren Bernard sent the ball back to teammate Meghan MacDonald and the defender sent a ball into the middle of the box. The ball bounced in the box and Swaby one-timed it into the far corner for a 1-0 lead.
Boston College went up 2-0 with 13 minutes to play in the match when McKenzie Meehan converted on a penalty kick.
BC was awarded the kick when Rosie DiMartino sent Lauren Berman into the box to the left of the goalkeeper. Berman made two moves and was tripped just six yards from the goal mouth.
GAME NOTES
The Eagles started Alex Johnson in goal, Meghan MacDonald, Allyson Swaby, Madison Meehan, Lauren Bernard, Jana Jeffrey, Gaby Carreiro, Amber Stearns, McKenzie Meehan, Hayley Dowd and Lauren Berman.
Sophomore Allyson Swaby notched her second career goal. It was her first career game-winning goal.
BC had an 8-2 edge in shots at the half.
The Eagles finished the game with an 11-10 edge in shots. BC had three corner kicks, while Columbia had four.
