Eagles conclude busy Day 2 of Harvard Fall Classic

Borr, double teams advance to Sunday’s finals Sept. 19, 2015
BOSTON – Junior Lexi Borr advanced to the final of the Red Singles bracket at the Harvard Fall Invitational on Saturday, while two of Boston College's doubles teams – Borr/Jackie Urbinati and Katya Vasilyev/Emily Safron – advanced to the final in the Doubles A bracket.
In singles action in the Red bracket, Borr claimed a pair of victories to advance to the final. In her first match of the day, she earned a 6-2, 6-2 win over Boston University's Iryna Kostirko, 6-0, 6-2, to earn a place in Sunday's final.
Also in the Red bracket, Asiya Dair picked up a 6-3, 6-3 win over Columbia's Rima Asatrian before falling to Harvard's Erica Oosterhout in the semifinal, 6-2, 6-2. Vasilyev faced BU's Kostirko in the quarters, dropping a three-set, 3-6, 6-3, 7-5 decision.
In the Blue Single bracket, Urbinati fell in her quarterfinal match to Wake Forest's Luisa Fernandez, 6-2, 6-4. In the Green bracket, Safron dropped a 6-1, 7-5 match to Wake Forest's Emma Davis in the quarters.
After falling out of their brackets, Urbinati defeated BU's Iris Lin, 6-1, 6-2, while Safron dropped a 6-0, 6-2 decision to the Terriers' Sabrina Faybyshev.
Other members of the team played non-bracketed matches with Jennifer Ren picking up a pair of wins: a three-set, 6-0, 5-7, 6-0 win over Yale's Caroline Amos, and a 6-0, 6-2 victory over BU's Kim McCallum. Heini Salonen lost 6-2, 6-4 to BU's Remi Ramos.
In doubles action, the tandems of Borr/Urbinati and Vasilyev/Safron advanced to Sunday's Doubles A bracket final after morning victories. Borr and Urbinati defeated Columbia's Asatrian and Alexandra Solovyev, 8-6, while Vasilyev and Safron earned an 8-6 win over Wake Forest's Davis and Anna Ulyashchenko.
In Bracket B action, Wan-Yi Sweeting and Dair fell in their semifinal match against the Demon Decons' Luisa Fernandez and Andrea Retolaza, 8-3.
The Eagles will wrap up play in the Harvard Fall Classic on Sunday.
