The Boston College women’s soccer team is currently in California preparing for Friday’s game against No. 3 Stanford (10 p.m. ET) at Laird Q. Cagan Stadium.
Boston College is currently 2-0 with victories over Boston University (2-1) and Colgate (3-0). The Eagles are led offensively by r-junior McKenzie Meehan with three goals, while junior Hayley Dowd and Andrea O’Brien have also recorded a goal. Redshirt freshman Alexis Bryant is currently 2-0 in goal while recording her first career shutout against Colgate.
The Cardinal opened the regular season with a 2-1 win at Hawaii last week. Stanford’s second game which was scheduled for Monday was canceled due to inclement weather.
BC vs. Stanford
The two teams have played eight times since the 2008 season. Three of the matches have been in the NCAA Tournament. Stanford leads the overall series, 5-0-2. The teams last played in 2013 as the Eagles lost in double-overtime, 2-1, at the Newton Soccer field. The Eagles lone goal was scored by Lauren Bernard.

Boston College’s team captains for the season are: red-shirt junior forward McKenzie Meehan, senior defender Coco Woeltz and senior midfielder Jana Jeffrey.
Highlights
McKenzie Meehan was named to the Hermann Trophy watch list. This is the third consecutive season Meehan has been named to the watch list … Junior Hayley Dowd was named to the All-ACC preseason list. She led the team in scoring with 14 goals and three assists for 31 points … This is Coach Alison Foley’s 20th overall season coaching but No. 19 as the Eagles head coach. In the last five years, her team is 9-1-2 in season openers since BC joined the ACC. She is 51-42-10 in ACC action … There are 10 new players on the roster this season … players saw their first collegiate game action as an Eagle - three rookies (Amber Stearns, Madeline McCracken and Gaby Carriero), two transfers ( Lauren Berman and Shea Newman) and second-year player Alexis Bryant in the first two games.
