Women's Basketball Enjoys A Day at Lake Como
August 17, 2015 | Women's Basketball
Lake Como, Italy -
Monday was the first full day for the team in Italy as the Eagles began their morning with a boat ride on Lake Como with a stop at Bellagio. After a day on the lake the Eagles played their first game against TK Hannover (Germany).
A tour guide narrated the Eagles through the wonderful villas along the waters of Lake Como. The team was able to see Villas owned by George Clooney, Visace and Richard Branson. The boat stopped in Bellagio where the team walked the narrow streets, enjoyed gelato and did a little shopping. Following the boat trip, the Eagles headed back to the hotel to relax prior to the first game of the trip.
Game Update
Boston College lost to TK Hannover, 72-60, despite 16 points and six rebounds from junior Kelly Hughes. Senior Nicole Boudreau had seven points while newcomer Kailey Edwards had six.
The Eagles started Hughes, Boudreau, Alexa Coulombe, Ashley Kelsick and Katie Quandt. BC was down 42-27 at the half but cut into the lead after outscoring Hannover, 18-14, in the third quarter.
In the fourth, BC opened up with two three-pointers -- one each from Hughes and Edwards. Emilee Daley's (7 points) traditional three-point play sparked a comeback by the Eagles as Hughes followed with three consecutive free throws and BC was down, 65-58 with 2:22 to play.
With less than two minutes left Edwards cut the lead to five points on a foul shot. In the final minutes, it was ball possession as the Eagles turned the ball over twice and failed to rebound a foul shot as Hannover held on for the win.
Boston College will travel early in the morning to the great city of Venice on Tuesday. The team will then head to Treviso. The second game of the trip will be on Wednesday night vs. Basket Montecchio Maggiore in Montecchio at 8:30 at night.
