Women's Basketball To Play In The Junkanoo Jam

The Boston College women's basketball team will play Utah and Oklahoma at the Junkanoo Jam Tournament in Freeport, Bahamas on November 27 and November 28.
The tournament has three divisions and will run from Thursday, Nov. 26 through the 28th. The Eagles will play in the Reef Division with the opening game on Friday, November 27 vs. Utah at 8 p.m. On Saturday, Nov. 28, BC will play Oklahoma. It will be the first meeting in program history for BC against both Utah and Oklahoma.
Utah went 9-21 overall and 3-15 in the Pac-12 Conference this past season. Oklahoma went 21-12 overall and 13-5 in the Big 12. The Sooners defeated Quinnipiac in the first round of the NCAA Tournament before bowing out to Stanford.
Other teams competing in the Junkanoo Jam this season will be Notre Dame, Denver, UCLA and Louisiana Tech in the Freeport Division. Baylor, Cincinnati and Michigan State will play in the Lucaya Division.
This will be the Eagles second trip to the Bahamas as the team won the 2010 Lucaya Division. BC defeated Seton Hall, 85-46, behind 18 points from Kerri Shields while Carolyn Swords went 8-for-8 from the floor for 17 points. Stefanie Murphy pitched in with 13 points and five rebounds.
In the championship game, Boston College defeated Sacred Heart, 83-47, behind 21 points and 11 rebounds from Carolyn Swords and 22 points, 10 rebounds and two assists from Stefanie Murphy. Swords' was named the tournament MVP, while Murphy made the All-Tournament team.
