Field Hockey 2015 Captains Named

Chestnut Hill, Mass. -- Boston College field hockey has elected its new captains for the 2015 season. Kelcie Hromisin, AshLeigh Sebia, and Romée Stiekema, who will be seniors on the squad next season, have been selected by their teammates to lead the Eagles.
"Congratulations to Kelcie, AshLeigh and Roméeonthis honor bestowed upon them by their teammates. It is incredible to witness the maturity and growth of these young women in our program. They have the respect and integrity to lead this team through good times and adversity. The BC community really pushes people to achieve greatness and I think that has contributed immensely to these three leaders," said head coach Kelly Doton
Hromisin, a native of Larksville, Pennsylvania, started all 20 games this season as a junior. The forward tallied a career high 18 points on nine goals, including two game-winners. Hromisin was also named to the National Academic Squad for the third time in her career.
"Being recognized by my teammates as a leader is a huge honor and privilege. I owe this opportunity to both my teammates who are constantly challenging, motivating and guiding me, and to coach Doton and our coaching staff who continually provide direction, knowledge, and encouragement. This spring, our team has pushed ourselves physically and mentally, committed ourselves to taking risks and developing new skills, and demanded more from each other in order to excel beyond our past achievements for the upcoming fall season," said Hromisin.
Sebia was also named a captain as a junior this year. The forward from Plains, Pennsylvania played in 18 games this season, starting 15 of those. She tallied nine points on one goal and seven assists. Sebia was also named to the National Academic Squad for the third time in her career.
"I am so incredibly honored to be chosen as a captain for the 2015 season. It is even more humbling to be in such great company with leaders like Kelcie and Romée. The BC field hockey family has allowed me to be surrounded by hard working women who inspire me to be a better player and person. As a group, we are so very excited and optimistic about the future," said Sebia. "Following the strong leadership of our coaches, the team has been committed to holding itself to a higher standard and that is something we have been workingonall spring. The team has been focusing a lotonincreasing our tempo and adding more creativity to our play. We are looking forward to implementing these practices as we close out our spring season with two tournamentsonNewton."
Stiekema, a 2014 All-Northeast Region First Team honoree, started 17 games with the Eagles this season. The midfielder notched five points on one goal and three assists despite being sidelined by an injury for two games. Stiekema's performance this season earned the Amsterdam native Second Team All-ACC honors.
"Being elected a captain by my teammates is truly an honor. I am very excited for the final weeks of our spring training -- we have our last scrimmages coming up so it will be exciting to implement the skills we have been concentratingonthroughout the spring," said Stiekema.
The Eagles finish off their spring schedule over the next two weekends, hosting tournaments at the Newton Field Hockey Complex on Saturday, April 18 and Saturday, April 25.
