Chestnut Hill, Mass.-- This winter, Boston College women's field hockey and lacrosse teams partnered up with Wednesday's Child by inviting 15-year old Kim to campus for a day. Wednesday's Child, a program started by the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption, looks to find foster homes for young adults, highlighting their interests and personalities in each video segment.
During her day on campus, Kim, who has a passion for both field hockey and lacrosse, was able to meet many of the players from both teams. She even had some time to learn from some of the athletes, many of whom were just as excited to meet Kim as she was meeting them.
Field hockey senior back Abby Bascetta, who has had a devotion to helping younger players for a long time, was particularly eager to get to know Kim.
"Both the field hockey and lacrosse teams loved having Kim on campus. She is a great kid who has a passion for both sports," said field hockey head coach Kelly Doton. "She watched a lifting session involving our team and Senior Abby Bascetta got to knock the ball around with her. Abby has always had a passion for helping younger field hockey players and I know she enjoyed spending time with Kim. We love having kids from the community engaging in our sport."
Women's lacrosse assistant coach Alex Frank also saw that same spark in Kim that Doton referenced.
"It was great seeing how much passion she had for both field hockey and lacrosse. She plays goalie in lacrosse with is one of the hardest positions in the sport because it takes so much mental toughness. it is very clear that Kim is definitely mentally tough," said Frank.
Kim has promised to return to watch the Eagles play this spring and fall, and both teams can't wait to see her on the sideline.
