
ACC Fencing Annual Awards Announced

The Atlantic Coast Conference Men's and Women's Fencing individual awards were announced on Wednesday. The honors were voted on by the league's four head coaches.
For ACC Men's Fencing, Notre Dame's Garrett McGrath, Ariel DeSmet, Jonathan Fitzgerald, and Gia Kvaratskhelia were recognized. On the women's side, Boston College's Olivia Adragna, North Carolina's Gillian Litynski and Ron Miller, and Notre Dame's Lee Kiefer and Ashley Severson garnered accolades.
Notre Dame's Garrett McGrath was named the as the top male in épée. A junior from Mesa, Arizona, McGrath led the Irish men's épée squad with a 49-23 record. At the ACC Championships, he posted a 12-3 record in the individual competition before defeating North Carolina's Matthew Shlimak and Boston College's Ethan Grab to win the league title.
Boston College's Adragna and Notre Dame's Severson were named Co-Women's Fencers of the Year for Epée. Adragna and Severson have near identical records of 51-17 and 50-13 on the season.
A native of Malverne, New York, Adragna led the Eagle's épée squad to a 22-2 season record. At the Northeast Fencing Conference, Adragna went 15-2 to help BC go 5-2 at the event.
At the Sollee Invitational, Adragna posted a 15-0 record as BC went 5-1 the first week of February. Adragna placed sixth at the NCAA Northeast Regional in a field of 58 competitors. She will be competing in the NCAA Championships this weekend.
