Grab, Adragna Medal at ACC Championship

CHAPEL HILL, N.C.--
Freshman Ethan Grab earned a silver medal on Saturday in the men's epee in the ACC Championship, held at the Carmichael Arena at the University of North Carolina. His second-place finish guarantees Grab All-ACC Honors. Grab defeated Duke's Dean Ischiropoulos, 15-12, in the semi-finals to advance to the championship round against Garrett McGrath of Notre Dame, where he put up a valiant fight, falling 11-8.
Grab's performance led the men's team to a third place finish at the tournament, defeating North Carolina (14-13) but faltering against Duke and Notre Dame to finish at 1-2. The standout performance came from the men's foil squad, which defeated Notre Dame, 7-2.
Junior Olivia Adragna claimed the bronze medal in the women's epee on Sunday at the inaugural ACC Women's Fencing Championship. Adragna fell to Ashley Severson of Notre Dame, 15-10, in the semi-finals before narrowly defeating Notre Dame's Catherine Lee, 15-14, in the fence-off for third.
The women's team finished at 0-3 for the day, falling to Notre Dame, North Carolina and Duke. Highlights from the women's team include the epee squad's performance, with victories against Notre Dame (7-2), North Carolina (5-4), and Duke (5-4).
