Eagles Compete At UConn Invite

This weekend the BC Eagles swam at the 2015 University of Connecticut Invitational. The meet was non-scoring. Participating teams were UConn, Northeastern, University of Rhode Island, and Bryant University.
The girls kicked things off on a strong note in the 500 yd. Freestyle where Madeline Simone ’18 took first with 5:10.77, Kelsey Hawthorne ’17 in second with 5:14.56 and Allison Viverette ’15 in third with 5:16.99. Megan Fuqua ’17 finished first for BC and third overall in the 200 yd. Backstroke with a time of 2:12.37.
In the men’s 50 yd. Backstroke, Conor Chamness ’17 and Josh Williams ’17 took first and second, Chamness clocking in at 24.36, and Williams following closely at 24.50. Bret Bonzell ’17 took first place in the 200 yd. Individual Medley with an excellent time of 1:06.11, beating the second place finisher from UConn by over 3 seconds. Estephen Saliba ’16 took second place overall in the 100 yd. Butterfly with a time of 51.30, only .09 seconds behind the first place finisher from UConn.
With the season wrapping up in a couple of weeks, the Eagles will take a quick break before traveling to Atlanta, GA. for the ACC Men’s and Women’s Championships, beginning Feb. 18th.
