"Our team played well this entire weekend. We played hard and we played smart. We were able to take advantage of our offensive opportunities and our defense and goalies were strong. It'll be great to take that momentum into the last game of the semester this Thursday."
HOW IT HAPPENED
- 1st, 00:51 // 1-0 – BC GOAL: After Haley Skarupa's shot was saved, Maine's defense sent out to the half boards the where Megan Keller picked it up, created space along the blue line and launched a shot from the point that found space through traffic and past goaltender Mariah Fujimahari.
- 1st, 15:18 // 2-0 – BC GOAL: Alex Carpenter tallied her 23rd goal of the season, converting on a rip from just inside the point. Dana Trivigno pulled the puck off the boards behind the net and found Lexi Bender at the near point. She then fed Carpenter on the opposite point who had space to let her shot rip as a Maine power-play expired.
- 1st, 16:30 // 3-0 – BC GOAL (4v4): After Andie Anastos won the faceoff in the Eagles' end, Makenna Newkirk and Lexi Bender broke into the zone on a 4v4 chance, with Fujimahari making the save on Newkirk's initial chance. The puck popped loose, allowing Bender to poke it under Fujimahari for the Eagles' third goal.
- 1st, 17:14 // 4-0 – BC GOAL (4v4): Andie Anastos stroked a hard-angle shot up over Fujimahari's shoulder as the Eagles continued to skate 4v4. Toni Ann Miano sent Anastos into the zone with the puck and after Anastos' first shot was saved, she got the rebound and sent it in for BC's fourth goal.
- 2nd, 1:28 // 4-1 – MAINE GOAL (PPG): After Brooke Stacey played Morgan Sakundiak deep in the zone, Sakundiak send the puck at a hard angle through the crease and under Gabri Switaj's pads for the Black Bears' first goal. Switaj replaced Katie Burt at the start of the second period as both teams swapped goaltenders.
- 2nd, 11:38 // 4-2 – MAINE GOAL: On a 2v3 rush, Stacey gained the line and skated wide left then sent the puck into the slot for Richards - skating in behind the play – for the re-direction under Switaj.
- 2nd, 12:23 // 5-2 – BC GOAL: Tori Sullivan struck back almost immediately, benefitting from Meghan Grieves' and Anastos' forecheck. Grieves came off the boards with the puck and threaded a pass through traffic to Sullivan at the back post for the re-direction past Meghann Treacy, who replaced Fujimahari at the start of the second period.
- 2nd, 19:45 // 6-2 – BC GOAL: Kenzie Kent's shot was wide, but Carpenter picked it up off the boards and played it right back to her on the doorstep. Kent then lifted her second attempt past Treacy's left after she committed to her right.
- 3rd, 19:34 // 7-2 – BC GOAL (PPG): Tori Sullivan took a cross-zone pass from Haley Skarupa at the far point, and then sent a shot into the slot. The puck hit Megan Keller skating in and it bounced past Treacy for the Eagles' seventh goal of the game and second power-play strike of the game.
