Hockey East: Month’s Best Are Burt, Carpenter

Eagles pick up goaltender, player of the month nods from league
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Two members of the Boston College women's hockey team were tabbed best of the month of November by Hockey East today.
Sophomore Katie Burt was tabbed the goaltender of the month for the second month in a row, while senior Alex Carpenter was recognized as Hockey East's player of the month, her first of the 2015-16 season. Providence's Christina Putigna was the league's rookie of the month.
Burt went 5-0-0 in November, posting a league-best 1.39 goals against average and a .950 save percentage. She added one shutout while twice recording games with 30 or more saves, including a career-high 36 in a road win at No. 4 Northeastern on Nov. 28 and 30 saves in an overtime win over Boston University on Nov. 10.
The Lynn, Mass., product was also the league's goaltender of the month in October. Burt is now 14-0-0 on the season with a 1.07 GAA, the second-best mark in the nation. Her six shutouts also rank second nationally, and her .955 save percentage is third in the country. This is her fifth career monthly honor from Hockey East (four goaltender of the month, one rookie of the month,)
Carpenter led Hockey East in scoring in November, collecting 16 points in seven games for a 2.29 points per game mark – almost a half-point more than the next closest player. She scored seven goals and added nine assists while also tallying two game-winning goals, three power-play goals and one shorthanded strike. She helped the Eagles go 7-0-0 in the month, including two wins over then No. 5 and No. 4 Northeastern and a two-game sweep of Boston University. In the team's second game against the Terriers, Carpenter scored the game-winning goal in overtime, her second score of the game.
On the season, Carpenter leads the nation with 39 points from 21 goals (tied for the national lead) and 18 assists. She leads the nation in game-winning goals (6), and is second in both power-play goals (6) and shorthanded goals (2). This is her fifth player of the month nod in her career, and her ninth monthly honor in her career.
The No. 2 Eagles (17-0-0, 11-0-0 HEA) return to action this weekend when they travel to face Maine (6-11-0, 3-7-0 HEA) for a two-game set in Orono. The games are set for Saturday, Dec. 5, and Sunday, Dec. 6, at Alfond Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 2 p.m. on both days, and the games will be streamed live on goblackbears.com.
