Meehan earns Academic honor from the NSCAA.
Boston College redshirt junior McKenzie Meehan was named to the 2015 NSCAA Scholar All-America women's soccer second team as announced today.
The National Soccer Coaches Association of America recognizes select collegiate student-athletes as 2015 NSCAA Scholar All-Americans for their dual accomplishments on the field and in the classroom.
To be named to a Scholar All-America Team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) throughout his or her career; start more than 50 percent of all games and be a significant contributor to the team; and be nominated by an institution that is a current NSCAA College Services member.
Meehan, a native of Glouceser, Rhode Island, has collected a number of post-season awards. She was an All-ACC first team honoree, as well as an NSCAA Southeast first team All-America team selection. She was recently named to the NSCAA All-America third team and was 2015 Academic All-America Division 1 soccer team.
The Eagles forward had a record setting season as she finished the regular season as the ACC's leading scorer with 38 points (17 goals, 4 assists). She scored in 11 of the 19 games as the Eagles advanced to the NCAA Tournament with an 11-7-2 record.
Meehan became the Eagles all-time leading goal scorer in October when BC defeated Pittsburgh, 2-1. Meehan scored the 13 minutes into the action to break the old record of 39 career goals held by Kristie Mewis '11. Meehan now has 45 career goals and 98 career points, second on the all-time list behind Mewis.
In May of 2015, Meehan earned her undergraduate degree in economics. She is currently working on a master's degree.
