Eagles’ sophomore goaltender Katie Burt takes her second weekly defensive honor of the season
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College sophomore goaltender Katie Burt picked up her second Hockey East defensive player of the week honor of the season on Monday after going 2-0-0 last week as the second-ranked Eagles remained undefeated on the season.
Â
The Lynn, Mass., product started the week by backing the Eagles to a 4-3 overtime win over rival Boston University on Tuesday. She made 30 saves in the win – the second-highest total of her career – as BC defeated the Terriers. On Saturday at New Hampshire, Burt collected her sixth shutout of the season while making 24 saves. She also picked up her second career assist, setting up the play that led to Alex Carpenter's game-opening power-play goal en route to the 3-0 road win.
Â
At the league level, Burt sits atop both the overall and conference-only stats for goals against average (1.00 overall, 0.57 HEA only), save percentage (.956 overall, .973 HEA only) and winning percentage (1.000).
Â
Nationally, Burt is third in goals against average and save percentage, second in shutouts (6) and tied for first in winning percentage. Burt is now 12-0-0 on the season.
Â
Burt and the second-ranked Eagles return to action on Friday, Nov. 20, when they host seventh-ranked Northeastern at Kelley Rink. Faceoff is set for 7 p.m., and the game – which will feature four of the nation's top nine scorers so far this year – will be streamed live on bceagles.tv.
