Meet Stephanie Jones ….
Why did you choose Boston College?
I chose Boston College because of its strong academics, the atmosphere and culture of the student body, and the warm reception I received from the coaches and the team during my visits. My parents and I both felt that Boston College was the right fit for me.
Give a summary of your game for the BC fans –
I'm a guard who likes to get my teammates involved and at the same time bring energy to the court by pushing the tempo on both ends of the floor. I'm extremely passionate about the game, which is something I hope is a visible when I play.
What has been the toughest adjustment for you since your arrival on campus – academics or on the court – or both?
I like to spend extra time on the basketball court as well as devoting extra time to my studies. Sometimes, it can be challenging adjusting to the demands required for both. However, I feel that I'm working hard and making the adjustments necessary to succeed.
Do you have a favorite day or tour you'll never forget while on the team's August trip to Italy?
I enjoyed the entire trip to Italy, but my favorite tour was the time that I spent in Venice. It was amazing to see an entire city built on water and containing so much history. It was great visiting the glass factory, and it was fascinating to observe the glass blowing process. The glassmaker even made a beautiful glass horse, in a few seconds, as we watched. I was also in awe of the beauty of the detailed design that made up the structure of the churches. In particular, I was impressed with the St. Mark's Basilica.
Name two people who have been influential in your success and why?
My brother, Bryan, and my parents - from a very young age, have always tried to participate in the same sports as my brother, who is older than me. I was allowed to practice on his teams, and he would encourage me to play hard. He was always very proud when I competed with his friends and did well. My parents have also been very supportive of me, and they have always encouraged me to do my best with both academics and sports. They were always willing to extend themselves and dedicated the time, effort, and resources needed for me to play on more challenging teams outside of my local area.
What is your favorite pregame meal?
My favorite pregame meal is two fried eggs with extra cheese, and bacon on the side.
What music do you listen to get you going?
I listen to anything by Drake, Fetty Wap, or just old school soul music. My dad got me into old school, as he would play it while driving on any family trip or going to AAU tournaments.
It's early but what is your favorite spot on campus?
My favorite spot on campus is Power Gym. I feel like I'm always in there whether it's with the team or by myself. I just love being on the basketball court. It's a happy place for me where I can just focus on what I love doing and get away from everything else.
