The Boston College women's soccer team defeated ACC foe, Wake Forest, 2-1, in double-overtime on Thursday night. The Eagles improved to 10-6-1 overall and 4-3-1 in the conference. Wake Forest is now 4-11-2 and 1-7-0 in the ACC. BC will host Miami on Sunday at 1 p.m.

BC HIGHLIGHTS
- Junior McKenzie Meehan scored on a penalty kick in double-overtime to win the match. It was her fourth game-winning goal.
- Junior Hayley Dowd scored her ninth goal of the season.
- Rookie goalkeeper Alexis Bryant had five saves in her sixth win of the season.
- Boston College junior Hayley Dowd struck in the 80th minute of the match. The Peabody native ran down a long ball on the end line. She beat the defender towards the middle of the box, and ripped a shot near post from 12 yards out for a 1-0 lead.
- The lead was short lived as Wake Forest sored two minutes later. Sarah Medina sent a ball into box between two BC defenders. Kahla Seymour battle for the ball and it squirted out and she placed it by Alexis Bryant from eight yards out to tie the math, 1-1, in the 82nd minute.
- In overtime, the back-and-forth action continued. Two minutes into the second overtime, McKenzie Meehan won a ball in the box to the right of the Wake Forest goalkeeper. When Meehan curled towards the middle of the box, a Wake Forest defender dropped her in the box. A penalty kick was awarded and Meehan calmly put the ball in the back of the goal to seal the win for the Eagles.
- "I thought we created a lot of chances today and didn't give much away,'' said BC head coach Alison Foley. "Wake Forest battled and made it difficult. They are the best team in the country that has only four wins.''
- At the half, Boston College had a, 6-2, edge in shots. The Eagles finished with a 22-11 advantage … Alexis Bryant earned her sixth win with five saves in the game. The biggest came in the 86th minute off Sarah Teegarden from 20 yards out. Her shot went near post going into the inside corner but Bryant deflected it high over the goal ... Hayley Dowd led the Eagles attack with eight shots, while McKenzie Meehan had six … Rookie Madeline McCracken earned her second start of the season, while Madison Kenny has started the last eight games.
- On Sunday, Boston College will host Miami at 1 p.m. Fans are asked to come early as the Eagles will honor the senior class – Coco Woeltz, Jana Jeffrey, Lauren Bernard, Madison Meehan and Jillian Lutz.
