
BC Closes Out First ACC Road Trip at Notre Dame and Louisville

Eagles on ESPN3 Friday Night before facing Cardinals Sunday
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Boston College volleyball team will conclude their first road trip of the ACC schedule this weekend when the Eagles travel to Notre Dame and Louisville. They will first visit Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind. Friday evening for their matchup with the Fighting Irish, a game that will be broadcast on ESPN3.
The Maroon and Gold will then travel south to nearby Louisville to close out their road trip with a matinee game vs. the Cardinals on Sunday at 1 p.m.

The Fighting Irish have had the Eagles number in their 15 matchups dating back to 1991. Notre Dame has won 13 of the 15 games between the two schools, with the Eagles having won the most recent contest, a five set thriller on the Chestnut Hill campus last November. In that game, Katty Workman had a game high 16 kills while Sol Calvete recorded three service aces and Kam McLain tallied six blocks. Entering Friday night's game, Notre Dame boasts a 5-9 (0-2 ACC) record, having lost their first two conference games by matching scores of 3-0 to Louisville and No. 17 Florida State. The Irish are led by sophomore outside hitter Sam Fry, who has accumulated a team high 167 kills. Maddie Dilfer is eighth in the ACC with an 8.72 assists per set mark while her teammate Katie Higgins' 12 service aces (0.34 set) are ninth best in conference.

The Cardinals will also pose a challenge to the Eagles when the two schools face off on Sunday afternoon. Louisville enters the game with an 8-4 (2-0 ACC) record after defeating the likes of Miami and Notre Dame in the first weekend of conference play. The two schools have only played each other once since Lousiville joined the Atlantic Coast Conference in 2014. In that matchup, the Eagles ousted the red and black 3-2 in Lousivlle. In the inaugural matchup, Sol Calvete recorded a double-double with 11 kills and 23 digs. In 2015, the Cardinals as a team are third best in the conference in assists (13.26/set) and kills (14.06) while they are second in digs (15.83).
Individually, Louisville's Katie George is leading the conference with 11.60 assists per set while Tess Clark's .425 hitting percentage is second best in the ACC. Erin Fairs rounds out the core of Cardinals leaders with her 4.11 kills per set mark, the third best mark amongst conference players.
GAME NOTES
Upon returning from this weekend's trip, Boston College will be at home for the next four games. The homestand begins with Virginia Tech on Oct. 9 and lasts through Oct. 16 when the Eagles host Virginia.

- In the most recent ACC statistics, senior outside hitter Katty Workman is second in the conference with her 4.24 kills per set. Mallori Moffat is fifth in the conference with a 9.25 assists per set mark and Madisen Lydon is tenth with her 3.82 digs per set.
- McKenna Goss is ranked second in the NCAA for total blocks in a five-match set. In the final game of the New England Challenge on Sept. 19, Goss tallied 12 blocks in the Eagles triumph over the host Harvard Crimson.
- In the second set of Sunday's loss to Georgia Tech, Katty Workman became the all-time leader in career kills when she surpassed former Eagle Kelsey Johnson's mark of 1,449 career kills. She finished the day with 23 kills and has tallied 1,466 career kills. Her efforts awarded her Boston College Female Athlete of the Week honors.
