Women's Basketball To Play at Miami on Sunday

The Boston College women’s basketball team opens up the Atlantic Coast Conference on the road in Coral Gables, Florida. The Eagles will battle Miami on Sunday at 1 p.m. Fans can watch the game on the Hurricanes website.
Boston College is now 8-5 on the season while Miami is 10-3. The Eagles are coming off a victory over Northeastern, 66-56, behind 17 points and eight rebounds from sophomore Kelly Hughes and 16 points and 10 rebounds from Ashley Kelsick.
Miami has won its last two games. The Hurricanes are coming off a 76-71 victory over LSU on Dec. 29. Adrienne Motley led Miami with 16 points while Suriya McGuire added 10 points.

BC vs. MIAMI
- This will be the 40th meeting between the Eagles and the Hurricanes. Miami leads the overall series, 23-17.
- Last season Boston College stunned Miami, 63-62, behind 15 points and 10 rebounds from Katie Zenevitch. Nicole Boudreau chipped in with 15 points while Lauren Engeln added 10.
- Since BC joined the ACC, the Eagles have a 9-8 edge in the series.
- The first meeting between BC and Miami took place on Jan. 3, 1992. BC lost, 78-54, on its home court.
YOUTH MOVEMENT
- Boston College has five freshmen on the roster, four that have received significant playing time.
- Rookie Ashley Kelsick leads all first year players in starts (11), points scored (117), minutes played (24.9) and rebounds (32). She notched her first career double-double in the win over Northeastern (16 points, 10 rebounds)
- Freshman center Katie Quandt is averaging 5.3 points and 3.4 rebounds a game. A native of Minnesota, Quandt has earned eight starts this season.
- First year guard Marti Mosetti has played in all 13 games with five starts. She is averaging 3.5 points and has 21 assists. Mosetti has scored a career-high six points in four games this season. She has played a career-high 25 minutes vs. Holy Cross.
- Rachel Gartner has battled a number of nagging injuries all season. She is coming along and earned her first start at Hartford. Gartner notched a career-high nine assists in the win. She has played in nine games and is averaging 11.2 minutes per game.
TEAM NOTES
- In the last four games, Kelly Hughes is shooting 52 percent from the arc (14-for-27), while Ashley Kelsick is 5-for-17 (42%). BC is 3-1 in the last four games.
- Junior Karima Gabriel is seventh in the ACC in blocked shots (13 games, 20 blocks). She has had a season-high four vs. Boston University and Northeastern.
- BC has three players with 30 or more assists – Kelly Hughes (37), Nicole Boudreau (35) and Ashley Kelsick (32).
- Sophomore Kelly Hughes has led the team in scoring a rebounding in eight games. She also has a team-high three double-doubles. The Eagles have hit eight or more three-pointers in 10 or 13 games.
- The team has hit 17-for-43 (40%) in the last two games.
