Skiing Competes at UVM Carnival
January 29, 2015 | Skiing
STOWE, Vt.--Another Carnival in the books! This past weekend the team traveled to Stowe, Vermont for the UVM Winter Carnival. The UVM Carnival is always exciting as the terrain is extremely demanding and unpredictable. This is one of the more challenging hills and course sets of the season.
In the Giant Slalom, sophomore Brayton Pech (Bug) led the Eagles landing in 34th position, followed by freshman Maggie Gilligan's 38th place finish and senior Michelle Solomon in 41st place. For the men, junior and team captain Chase Ryan finished in 28th place overall and first for the Eagles, while fellow junior Keith Schuman finished 36th.
On Saturday, the team competed in the Slalom. Bug Pech again led the women's team with her 30th place, followed closely by Kristie Ryan in 33rd place. The men's team faced a tough course on a challenging hill, and over half of the men's field did not finish. The course took down some of the top skiers in the country, including the men's team.
The Eagles are back on the slopes at the St. Michael's Carnival in Smuggler's Notch, Vermont, on January 30th and 31st.
