Boudreau, Fitzgerald Named Eagles of the Week
January 29, 2015 | Women's Basketball
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Junior guard Nicole Boudreau (women's basketball) and sophomore forward Ryan Fitzgerald (men's hockey) have been named Eagles of the Week.
Boudreau helped the Eagles upset #13/15 Duke on Thursday night as she finished with 18 points, including five 3-pointers in the first half. It was the first time BC defeated a ranked team since the 2011 season. Boudreau hit five of seven threes in the first half as BC held a four point halftime lead. On Sunday, Boudreau remained hot as she had 15 points in a six point loss at Pittsburgh. Boudreau shot 54.5 percent from the floor and 47 percent from the 3-point line while averaging 16.5 points per game.
Fitzgerald scored Boston College's first hat trick of the season and within that trifecta was two power play goals and the game-winner. The North Reading, Mass., native had registered a pair of two-goal performances this season before becoming the first Eagle to record a hat trick since Johnny Gaudreau turned the trick on March 29, 2014. Fitzgerald now leads the Eagles with 12 goals on the season and is just one tally shy of matching last year's freshman year total.
Women's basketball (9-11, 1-6 ACC) is on the road at North Carolina on Sunday. #14/15 men's hockey (15-8-2, 7-5-0 HEA) hosts Providence on Friday night at 7:30 p.m.
