Field Hockey Jumps to No. 6 in the Nation

Chestnut Hill, Mass. - Boston College field hockey has jumped to No. 6 in the Penn Monto/NFHCA national coaches' poll according to a release issued on Tuesday, Sep. 23. This marks the highest ranking the Eagles have received since Oct. 8, 2013 after BC defeated No. 20 New Hampshire and upset No. 2 Connecticut on the road in overtime.
Boston College moved up five spots in the rankings after its overtime victory at then-ranked No. 4 Syracuse on Sep. 20 and a dominant 6-3 victory at Colgate on Sep. 21. The 7-1 Eagles have now been ranked No. 6 or higher seven times since the NFHCA Coaches' Poll began in 1998.
Rounding out the top ten teams are: No. 1 North Carolina, No. 2 Connecticut, No. 3 Virginia, No. 4 Maryland, No. 5 Duke, No. 7 Penn State, No. 8 Iowa, No. 9 Stanford, No. 10 Syracuse. Five teams from the ACC are ranked in the top ten nationally.
The No. 6 Eagles will face the No. 1 Tarheels in a top-ten matchup at the Newton Sports Complex this Friday, Sep. 26 at 4 p.m.
