Associate Head Coach Doton Elected to WFU Hall of Fame

Chestnut Hill, Mass. – Field Hockey associate head coach Kelly Doton has been named one of eight Wake Forest student-athlete alumni to be inducted in the 40th annual class of the Wake Forest University Sports Hall of Fame.
Doton played forward and midfield for Wake Forest from 2000-2003, helping the Deacons win back-to-back NCAA championships in 2002 and 2003. For her strong play on the defensive side of the ball and her established position as one of the most dangerous attack corner hitters in the nation, Doton earned the 2003 Honda Award for the National Field Hockey Player of the Year. Doton garnered many accolades throughout her career as a Deacon including ACC Player of the Year in 2002, two-time NFHCA First-Team All-American, three-time All-ACC honoree.
In her four years at Wake Forest, Doton started all 88 games in which she played, tallying 130 points on 44 goals and 42 assists.
Doton went on to play on the U.S. Women’s Senior national field hockey team and competed in the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing for the U.S.
Joining the Boston College coaching staff in 2012, Doton has been an instrumental part of the field hockey program, coordinating the defense and overtime tactics. In her second year as associate head coach, Doton and the Eagles reached the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2009.
Doton will be inducted into the Wake Forest Hall of Fame on Friday, Oct. 17 and honored during halftime of the Wake Forest vs. Syracuse home football game on Oct. 18.
