
Sweeting, Dair Represent Tennis At Brown Invitational

Providence, R.I. - This weekend junior Wan-Yi Sweeting and freshman Assiya Dair represented the BC women's tennis team at the Brown Invitational. Dair ended the weekend 2-1 in singles. Dair began the weekend with a 6-3,6-0 win over BU's Lauren Davis. Dair also beat Brown's freshman Alyza Benotto 6-4, 6-4. Benotto was ranked in Tennis Recruiting's top 10 nationally last year. Sweeting went 0-2 on the weekend in singles.
On Friday in the Bear Doubles Flight, Sweeting and Dair took down Stony Brook's Vozniak/Nikolaeva duo 8-1 to move to the next round before falling to Benotto/Noyes of Brown.
Sweeting and Dair took the court again as a pair on Saturday, notching an 8-1 victory over Brown's Kandath/Uberoi.
The Eagles will be back in action on September 27 at the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships in Pacific Palisades, Calif. Jessica Wacnik, Lexi Borr and Dair will represent the Eagles.
The ITA ranked sophomore Borr and senior Wacnik as the #21 doubles team in the country, giving them an automatic spot in the tournament. Dair was ranked #10 in the country on the Newcomer/Freshman rankings. Dair was also accepted into the prequalifer singles round at the All-American Championships.
