Lamb Discusses No. 11 Field Hockey's Weekend Wins
September 22, 2014 | Field Hockey
Chestnut Hill, Mass. - Field hockey head coach Ainslee Lamb sat down to talk about the team's stellar performance in road victories against No. 4 Syracuse and Colgate. Following the weekend, Boston College has extended its win streak to six and improved its record to 7-1.
"I think they know they have to perform at a very high level to win games against the Syracuse's and the UNC's--really any of those ACC opponents. I believe the difference this year is that they step on the field and they know that they really can win. That belief factor is very high right now and I'm very impressed by it," said Lamb.
Lamb discussed the intangibles that her team possesses and the mental toughness required to persevere against strong opponents. The Eagles won three consecutive games in overtime or shootouts--against Boston University, Connecticut, and Syracuse--and maintained their composure against a persistent Colgate team to win, 6-3.
Boston College will continue the action this weekend at the Newton Sports Complex against No. 1 North Carolina on Friday, Sep. 26 at 4 p.m. and against New Hampshire Sunday, Sep. 28 at 4 p.m.
"The ACC provides these kids with such incredible opportunities, and the women who choose Boston College want these opportunities and to have the chance to step on the field Friday night and play No. 1 in the country is something that they want. Then we turn around and play an excellent regional matchup against UNH on Sunday, and it's always a great game," said Lamb.
