September 16, 2014 | Field Hockey
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Graduate student quarterback Tyler Murphy (football) and junior goalkeeper Leah Settipane (field hockey) have been named Eagles of the Week.
Murphy rushed for a career-high 191 yards in football's 37-31 victory over No. 9 USC, which was the second-highest total by a quarterback in ACC history. He averaged 14.7 yards per carry against a Trojan defense that allowed just 4.0 yards/rush in the first two games. Murphy scored a rushing TD for the third straight game and tallied over 100 yards on the ground for the second time this year. He was also named the ACC Offensive Back of the Week
Settipane recorded 17 saves in a pair of victories last week against Boston University and No. 2 Connecticut. She had 12 saves against the Huskies in a 3-2 shootout win and had five in a 2-1 overtime win against the Terriers. Settipane is tied for fifth on BC's all-time saves list with 252.
Football (2-1) hosts Maine on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Alumni Stadium. No. 11 field hockey (5-1) is at Syracuse on Saturday and Colgate on Sunday.
