Chestnut Hill, Mass. -
Three members of the Boston College women's soccer team - Stephanie McCaffrey, Hayley Dowd and Allyson Swaby - have earned 2014 All-ACC accolades, announced by the conference on Thursday morning.
McCaffrey was named to the first team for the second consecutive season, while Dowd earned second team honors. Swaby was named to the All-Freshman team.
McCaffrey, a senior from Winchester, Mass., was a first-team All-ACC selection last season. McCaffrey was the teams' second leading scorer with six goals and a team-high seven assists for 19 points. She has compiled 90 career points, which makes her only the fourth players to score 90 or more points in program history. The Eagles forward has played in 64 career games and has 48 starts. She is also a three-time All-ACC honor roll student and an Athletics Director's Award for Academic Achievement honoree.
Dowd, a native of Peabody, Mass., led the team in scoring with a career-high 15 goals, three assists for 33 points. She led the ACC in goals scored and was second in points. Dowd also had a team-high five game-winning-goals. The Eagles forward has had four two-goal games this season.
Swaby, a native of West Hartford, is the only freshman on the roster to have played and started every game. The 5-foot-8 defender scored her first career goal in a, 1-1, double-overtime draw against then-No. 9 ranked Notre Dame. She notched her first collegiate point on an assist vs. North Florida on August. 31. Swaby is the ninth consecutive Eagles freshman to be named to the conference All-Rookie team. She is the fifth Boston College rookie defender to be named to the All-ACC Rookie team. The first was Caroline Walden in 2005.
Boston College finished the 2014 season with a 10-8-1 record.
