
Cara Hall Named ACC Fencer of the Week

Boston College's Cara Hall and North Carolina's Evan Philpot have been named the ACC Male and Female Fencers of the Week.
Hall was undefeated in women's epee in the NEIFC Fall Invitational season kickoff event, placing first in a field of 62. The senior from Los Angeles, Calif., went 6-0 in the preliminary round and was seeded first in Direct Elimination Tableau. She defeated three Sacred Heart fencers en route to the final, including NCAA qualifier Meghan Floyd, and defeated UNH fencer Azaline Dunlap-Smith, 15-13, in the gold medal bout.
Philpot finished second in men's sabre at the Temple Open out of a field of 92. He went 4-0 and 4-0 in two pool rounds, and was seeded first in Direct Elimination Tableau. The sophomore from Chapel Hill, N.C., defeated teammate Mason Erb, 15-10, in the semifinals, before falling to Penn State's Khalil Thompson in the final.
