November 24, 2014 | Women's Hockey
Chestnut Hill, Mass. - Senior defenseman Emily Pfalzer has been named Hockey East Defenseman of the Week, according to a release by the league Monday afternoon. This is Pfalzer's first weekly league honor of the season. Last season, the senior captain was named Hockey East Defenseman of the year. Overall, the No. 1 Eagles have earned conference accolades seven times this season.
Senior defenseman Emily Pfalzer tallied a four-point weekend in the Eagles' series sweep of UConn. Pfalzer assisted Alex Carpenter's game-tying goal in the first period of Friday night's victory and added three assists in Saturday's 6-0 shutout of the Huskies. Pfalzer, proving an integral part of the Eagles' attack, skated to a plus-seven rating on the weekend.
With 15 points on two goals and 13 assists, the Getzville, N.Y. native is third in the country in assists per game (1.08) and leads the nation in points per game by a defenseman (1.25).
Pfalzer and the Eagles have two games on tap this week, traveling to Yale on Tuesday, Nov. 25 and hosting No. 7 Harvard on Friday, Nov. 28.
