Hanlan, Hughes Named Eagles of the Week

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Junior Olivier Hanlan (men's basketball) and sophomore Kelly Hughes (women's basketball) have been named Eagles of the Week.
Hanlan led Boston College in points (17.5) and steals (4) as the Eagles went 1-1 over the weekend. He also averaged 4.5 rebounds. He had 17 points and five rebounds in the season-opening win against New Hampshire, going 6-for-9 from the foul line. He then had 18 points (15 in the first half) in the loss against Massachusetts on Sunday.
Hughes helped BC earn its first win of the season as she recorded a career-high 24 points, seven boards and six assists against Saint Mary's on Sunday. With BC down 13 points, Hughes scored 16 of her 24 points in the second half. She hit Nicole Boudreau in the corner for a 3-pointer with three minutes to play which gave BC the lead for good.
The men's team (1-1) begins the Puerto Rico Tip-Off on Thursday against New Mexico at 5 p.m. ET on ESPN2. The women's team (1-1) hosts Boston University on Thursday night and Bryant on Sunday.
