The Boston College women's basketball team will open up the 2014-15 season on the road. The Eagles will head west to play at No. 6 Stanford on Friday, Nov. 14 (8:30 p.m. ET). The second leg of the trip the BC will play at St. Mary's of California on Sunday Nov. 16.
BC finished the 2013-14 season with a 12-19 overall record while going 3-13 in the ACC. The Eagles lost in the final game of the season against Virginia in the ACC Tournament.
This year's team there will be a number of familiar faces and six new players on the roster. Three starters return to the lineup - junior captain Nicole Boudreau, senior Lauren Engeln and junior Kat Cooper. Also returning will be sophomore Kelly Hughes, who emerged as a scorer in the second half of the season. She started nine games when the team lost Kristen Doherty to an injury down the stretch.
Other returners include senior Shayra Brown, who is back from a foot injury to play her final season; senior Victoria Lesko, junior Karima Gabriel, junior Alexa Coulombe and sophomore Emilee Daley
The new faces include sophomore Kailey Edwards, who transferred from Denver. She will not see the court until the 2015-16 season. The rookies include Katie Quandt, Ashley Kelsick, Ella Awobajo, Martina Mosetti and Rachel Gartner.
BC will only play two home games in the month of November. After returning from California, Boston College will host Boston University in the home opener on Thursday, Nov. 20 at 7 p.m. On Sunday, November 23, the Eagles will host Bryant. The team will then head to Maine for Thanksgiving to play in the Black Bear Thanksgiving Tournament. BC will play Wright State on Nov. 28 and Brown or host Maine in the second game on the 29th.
BC VS. STANFORD
• Stanford leads the all-time series against Boston College, 3-1.
• Last season, Boston College lost to the Cardinal, 83-71, behind 30 points from Chiney Ogwumike while Amber Orrange added 19 points and 10 assists. Kristen Doherty had 16 points, while Shayra Brown and Lauren Engeln added 15 points apiece.
• There will be no video streaming for the game at Stanford on Friday night. Fans can tune in and listen to the Stanford online radio - KZSU.

• Kat Cooper - Jr., G/F - career-high 25 starts last year
• Kelly Hughes - So., G - Shot 43 percent from the floor and 3-point line last season.
• Karima Gabriel - Jr., C/F - Played only 13 games last season.
HOMETOWN GIRL
Junior Nicole Boudreau, a native of Andover, was named the team captain this off season. The Eagles third-year player made an immediate impact on the program from the time she arrive at the Heights.
Boudreau, who averaged 11.1 points per game, started all 31 games last year. In her two seasons, Boudreau has not missed a start and she is currently 312 points away from 1,000 career points.
The Eagles guard came to BC with the reputation as a shooter but it is her game that has evolved. She is a solid rebounder, willing passer and one of the top defenders on the team. Boudreau combined with sophomore Kelly Hughes make one of the most dangerous sharpshooting duos in the country. Last year the two hit 140 of the Eagles 240 three-pointers.
As a freshman, Boudreau was named to the All-ACC Freshman team and was BC's Outstanding Freshman Female Scholar-Athlete.
GRADUATION SUCCESS RATE
BC's GSR score of 95 was only topped by Notre Dame (99), Stanford (98), Duke (97) and Northwestern (96). Central Florida also achieved a score of 95. Only nine other FBS schools received an overall GSR of over 90: Wake Forest (94), Miami (92), Rice (92), Alabama (91), Clemson (91), Tulane (90), Air Force (90), Army (90) and Vanderbilt (90).
The football team's score of 92 was tied for best in the Atlantic Coast Conference with Duke and tied for sixth in the nation. Only 10 FBS institutions received a football GSR of 90 or better: Stanford (99), Northwestern (97), Rice (95), Notre Dame (94), Air Force (93), Boston College (92), Duke (92), Northern Illinois (91), Central Florida (90) and Wake Forest (90).
Twelve Boston College teams received a perfect GSR score of 100. Those teams included men's golf, men's skiing, women's basketball, women's rowing, field hockey, women's ice hockey, women's skiing, women's soccer, softball, women's swimming, women's tennis and volleyball. The NCAA developed the Graduation Success Rate as part of its academic reform initiative to more accurately assess the academic success of student-athletes. The rate holds institutions accountable for transfer students unlike the federal graduation rate. The GSR also accounts for midyear enrollees and is calculated for every sport.
IT'S A TWIN THING
The Eagles now have five players and one coach with a twin sibling. Assistant Coach Lisa Faulkner has a brother Matt, who resides in Las Vegas. Senior Lauren Engeln's twin sister Ashley graduated from Concordia while Kat Cooper's sister, Chelsea attends the University of Washington. Junior Nicole Boudreau has a twin sister Danielle is at Lesley College while sophomore Kelly Hughes twin sister attends LaFayette. Freshman Rachel Gartner's sister Rebecca is a member of the soccer team at Central Florida.
TWO FOR THREE
Last season, Nicole Boudreau and Kelly Hughes combined for 140 three-pointers. The team hit 240 three's, which set a new program record for most made in the single season. The previous record of 216 three's made was held by the 2010-11 and 2013-14 teams.
Due to the spot on shooting, BC was 15th in the country in three-pointers made. Boudreau had 68 three-pointers, while shooting 38 percent from the arc. Hughes hit for a new freshman record with 74 three-pointers. She was 15th in the country in three-pointer field goal percentage (42.3%).
FREE THROWS
• Kelly Hughes led the team in scoring in six games last season. She scored a career-high 23 points against three teams - Florida State, NC State and UVA.
• Junior Kat Cooper hit a career-high five three-pointers vs. Duke. She finished tying her career-high in points with 21.
• Senior Lauren Engeln played and started all 31 games last season. The transfer from UConn averaged 7.4 points and 2.7 assists per game while playing the point for the Eagles.
• Nicole Boudreau led the team in assists in 11 games.
• BC will host Indiana in the ACC-Big Ten Challenge on Dec. 3 at 7 p.m. It will be the first meeting between the two teams.
