Women's Soccer Falls to Syracuse, 3-0

The Boston College women's soccer team lost to Syracuse, 3-0, on Saturday night in an ACC matchup at SU Soccer Stadium. The Eagles are now 8-5-0 overall and 1-3 in the ACC. Syracuse is now 5-5-3 overall and 2-2-0 in the conference.
Boston College will next play at Virginia on Thursday, October 9 at 7 p.m. The game will be carried on a regional sports network.
Syracuse scored all three goals in the final 16 minutes of the game.
Orange forward Alana O'Neill scored from 18 yards out from a pass from Maya Pitts in the 73rd minute of the match. It was the first shot on goal for the Orange. O'Neill struck for her second goal of the night just five minutes later on a header off a corner kick from Jackie Firenze.
The third goal came with two minutes left in the match. Stephanie Skilton scored in the 89th minute.
The Eagles held the play for most of the game. Senior Stephanie McCaffrey finished the game with game-high seven shots in the match. She bothered the Syracuse defense throughout the game. In the 58th minute, McCaffrey had a great opportunity on a nice feed from Hayley Dowd. Syracuse goalkeeper Courtney Brosnan (six saves) came up with a big save to keep the game 0-0.
In the first half, BC held a 9-2 edge in shots. McCaffrey led the offense with three shots while Dowd had two in the half.
Boston College finished the game with 17 shots, while Syracuse had 10. Eagles' goalkeeper Darien Dunham had one save in the match.
