
#2/3 WIH Kicks off Providence Series Friday

Chestnut Hill, Mass. - No. 2/3 Boston College (5-0-1, 1-0-0 WHEA) welcomes Providence College (0-7-1, 0-0-0 WHEA) to Conte Forum to take on the Friars on Oct. 31 at 7 p.m. The Eagles will turn around on Saturday, Nov. 1 to play Providence at Schneider Arena. Boston College is undefeated in Hockey East play, shutting out UNH on Oct. 19, 4-0. Friday’s contest will be the Friars’ first league matchup.
Records
BC sits at 5-0-1 on the season and is coming off a its first series sweep of the year, defeating #5 Cornell to the tune of 6-2 twice at Kelley Rink last weekend.
Providence looks to grab their first win of the season as the Friars hold a 0-7-1 record. PC has dropped series to #9 Mercyhurst, defending national champion Clarkson, and Yale. The Friars’ one tie came against Syracuse on Oct. 18.
Notable Hockey East Statistics
BC juniors Alex Carpenter (2.50), Haley Skarupa (2.00), and Lexi Bender (1.50) lead the Hockey East in points per game. Provdience senior forward Haley Frade leads the Friars with 0.62 points per game.
Carpenter is also first in the Hockey East in goals scored with six and assists with nine. Skarupa weighs in at second in the WHEA with seven assists.
Boston College leads the way in defenseman scoring as well, with Bender posting 1.50 points per game and Emily Pfalzer with 1.17 points per game.
Freshman goaltender Katie Burt records a 1.48 goals against average, good for second among WHEA goalies and eighth in the nation.
The Last Meeting
The Eagles and Friars last met Feb. 1, 2014 when BC shut out Providence by a score of 5-0 at Kelley Rink. Senior forward Emily Field notched her 100th career point on one of Boston College’s five goals against the Friars. Junior forward Haley Skarupa added two goals while senior forward Kate Leary and junior forward Dana Trivigno each scored one. Goaltender Corinne Boyles recorded 23 saves to give the Eagles a 5-0 win.
