Chestnut Hill, Mass. - Senior Jessica Wacnik won the ITA/USTA Northeast Regional Championship Tuesday morning at the Cull-Heyman Tennis Center at Yale University with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Yale's Hanna Yu, an All-Ivy First Team selection last season.
Wacnik was the first Eagle to reach a singles regional final, and therefore, the first to win a regional title. The road to the final was not an easy one, as Wacnik defeated five of the Northeast's elite competitors en route.
She will next compete at the USTA/ITA Naitonal Indoor Championships at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, N.Y. at the beginning of November.
