Dowd, Keyes Named Eagles of the Week
October 14, 2014 | Women's Soccer
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Sophomore forward Hayley Dowd (women's soccer) and senior linebacker Josh Keyes (football) have been named Eagles of the Week.
Dowd scored three goals in two games last weekend as Boston College went 1-1. She scored two first half goals in a 6-3 loss at No. 4 Virginia on Thursday. Dowd then scored her ACC-leading 11th goal of the season - and fourth game-winner - to lead BC past Louisville. She has notched a point in eight games for the Eagles this season.
Keyes recorded a career-high 10 tackles to lead the BC defense past NC State on Saturday, not allowing the Wolfpack to score after the first quarter. He recorded two tackles for a loss, including his team-high fourth sack of the season, forcing quarterback Jacoby Brissett to fumble at his own 46-yard line in the fourth quarter. The Eagle defense allowed the Wolfpack just 43 rushing yards and 217 total yards on the night. Keyes was named ACC Co-Linebacker of the Week for his efforts. He is second on the team with 32 tackles and leads BC with 9.5 tackles for a loss.
Women's soccer (9-6-0, 2-4-0 ACC) hosts NC State on Sunday at 1 p.m. Football (4-2, 1-1 ACC) hosts No. 24/22 Clemson on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
